Women For Women International

From the recent Palestinian conflict and the ongoing Ukrainian war, to the women’s rights crisis in Afghanistan; the impact of war and conflict on women worldwide has been sobering in 2023. So, as we began to explore where our Rising Tide Fund would have the greatest impact in 2024, war-torn countries and areas of conflict gripped our hearts and wouldn’t let go.

As we shared
last week, Wittingly’s impact goes beyond the individual therapy session. We are dedicated to promoting a safer and more equitable world for women everywhere. Through the Rising Tide Fund we allot 3% of all our proceeds to supporting nonprofit organizations that empower and advocate for women.

After researching various nonprofits serving women throughout the world, we have chosen

Women for Women International

as our 2024 impact partner!
What They Do

Women For Women International is a relief organization serving female survivors of war and conflict. It’s no exaggeration to say that these women are among the most vulnerable humans on the planet. They face extreme poverty, loss of home and loved ones, rape and gender based violence. And when the conflict ends and the world’s attention moves on, their devastated lives inevitably become the invisible aftermath of the fight they never chose.

How We Picked

This year, Women for Women International celebrated their 30th anniversary. In that time, they have reached over 553,000 of the world's most vulnerable women, across 17 different countries. They have also established themselves as a trusted steward of charitable resources, and are highly endorsed by nonprofit evaluators such as Charity Navigator, and Charity Watchdog. Their solid history and stellar reputation give us confidence that our contributions will be well stewarded.

Why We Love Them

We love their strategic and evidenced-based approach, their commitment to empowering women on both practical and political levels by attending to their most immediate needs (clean drinking water and food) but also intervening on a political level through political advocacy, community development, and their 12 month vocational and financial education program. WFWI is committed to creating lasting change and greater gender-equality in communities for generations to come. The are truly taking a “teach them to fish” approach.

How You Can Help

If you’re a client here at Wittingly, your regular therapy sessions are already supporting the cause! Looking to make even more impact? Women For Women International has opportunities at every level. Write a message of encouragement to Afghani women directly through the WFWI website, directly sponsor a woman enrolled in the 12-month “Stronger Women, Stronger Nations” program (Just $35 a month!) or volunteer as an advocate raising awareness in your own community.

Cheers to 2024 and to the Rising Tide of justice for women everywhere.

XOXO
